Everyone needs downtime, just as long as it doesn't take over your life.

That would be my reply too. Just because I like playing video games doesn't mean I don't have a life.

If it is your parent asking: *show report card*

If it is your friend asking: *show your girlfriend*

If it is a stranger asking: *show your fist up close*

Works for me

actually I find playing the game very therapeutic .....I kill off the dumb insects and plants instead of taking my misplaced aggression out on others....works for me and I get some gratification when I accomplish something, granted it many only be a masters bonus reward (and those 3 swords), but it is instant and given---no questions asked. Sometimes you just want simple, and that is simple----do this well and get this reward. thanks!

yes I am wasting time playing the game.....but I think I waste more time posting on guru

they call it gaming,

I call it multitasking
I never just play guild wars, I play GW while surfing the net running pandora.com for music, youtube for cool videos, college humor for more funny vids, talkin on vent with friends, editing and maintaining my guild website/social networking site (it is not only for guild wars), checking gobs of emails and checking out all the cool new science and tech, and I am still trying to find a good wallpaper/background website.

somehow I still find time for work and school sleep is a different story

2 screens FTW.

o forgot I have the TV on in the backgroud as well lol.

so anyone who just watches hours of TV only I slap in the face when they ask this question.

GW is stale. Farming to build up your wealth even more, is fun.

I would tell them then they don't have to do it and they can go have fun watching reruns of dumb tv shows from the 70s
Yea ! its not gaming, its research.
Im not pwning Shiro im debugging.

When your two hobbies are gaming and programming your parents tend to see you as a lost cause in regards to staring at a screen.

Yeah, my mom constantly tells me to stop gaming and do something productive.

Until about 2 weeks back I was recovering from a bad leg fracture - needed surgery and physiotherapy, I had to move out of my apartment and out of the city to get faster treatments (my parents moved with me at my grandparents' in a remote countryside town) which meant going away from my husband (he did join me here after his semester ) and canceling my semester at university. I'm on leave until June, but now that I don't have the leg brace anymore I can now drive and look for a job, which is what I'm doing.

Which meant I had a LOT of time to game and COULDN'T get outta the house much (couldn't drive, couldn't walk, couldn't work)... which turned my mom nuts. Hell, GW was my only decent social window ('cause my grandparents are so-so talkers, and let's face it, my mom isn't the person who I wanna talk to 24/7). My husband and dad understand it fully, but not her.

I love gaming, it's my fav passtime, my big hobby... always has been and probably always will be. The difference is that before GW, I was a console gamer. I switched a lot between the computer and the consoles. Now I don't have to move since I game on the computer and I use it... usually at the same time. Yet my mom doesn't yell at me as much when I game on the TV, never understood why...

My husband doesn't think I have a problem. He's a bookworm who likes to game, and I'ma gamer who likes to read :P. I think in the 3 years and a half we've been together, he asked me twice to drop off the game: one 'cause he cut himself bad and needed to go to the ER, the other 'cause he wasn't feeling good at all. In fact he's the first one to tell my mom to chill...

I just stopped playing a lot of GW since I just realized it is pointless, thus a waste of time. there are many ways to challege your mind... gw is not so great at doing so. you take builds from wiki and get into dumb flame wars over noobs in RA so its well not worth the time and effort.

It's my favorite waste of time, except for making love with a woman

My boss doesn't understand why I play for so many hours. I do understand why he's a soccer phreak and goes watching soccer games and gets himself drunk. That's just not my kinda cup of tea though.

In the end we're both adults and we do with our free time whatever we want to do with it. I said to myself: As long as the bills are paid, the job has been done and the household runs, I can do whatever I want.

If gaming is a waste of time then so is entertainment of ANY kind. I play games because they're fun, not because I have no life.

When people ask me why I waste my time on games I reply simply, "because it keeps me out of prison" No one ever knows what to make of that, They just ask me what I would be doing if I wasnt playing games, my reply is a smile.

I've been told by just about everyone (except gamer friends of mine) that I'm wasting my time playing video games. My usual response is everything you do in your life is a waste of time if you actually bother to think about it. Which they do afterwards and nod their heads telling me I'm right. OMG ENLIGHTENMENT!

- Some of us don't have girlfriends.
- Some of us don't have boyfriends.
- Some of us don't have a job.
- Some of us realize Guild Wars is a game and games were meant to be fun.
- Some of us just happen to enjoy Guild Wars more than others.
- Some of us need to fill that void that World of Warcraft once had.
- Some of us like to stay indoors.

Plenty of reasons how to respond if someone says "You're wasting your life playing Guild Wars".
